Congratulations to new Brigade members Anthony, Andrew and Florian all of whom, have recently gained their RFS FireFighter qualifications. Pic by Duncan Murison.

Part of the training is called Burnover Training where crews take shelter in the Fire Truck and deploy the standard protective measures to keep them all safe when the vehicle is engulfed by fire:

Halo Sprinklers: A ring of nozzles on top of the cabin sprays water over the truck, keeping the cabin, wheels, and pump wet.

Radiant Heat Curtains: Reflective, fire-resistant curtains are pulled down over the windows to block extreme heat and glass shattering.

Bunkering: Firefighters huddle below the window line inside the cab using special fire blankets.
